Maternity Portraits

Growing a tiny little human - one of the most unique experiences a human can experience. Feeling those kicks and flutters...getting to know someone so well before you actually get to meet them...it's one of those experiences that can't be explained. Whether your pregnancy has been one of the most challenging experiences of your life, or one of those amazing, glowing experiences, it's a big deal. And it goes by so quickly. Even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

A Personal note...

I have been fortunate enough to be pregnant three times. And I have two seriously awesome girls (and one small hole in my heart) to show for it. All of those experiences were difficult for me, each for different reasons. Admittedly, I hid from the camera most of the time. And I regret it. With my oldest daughter, I had huge plans to do fun bump projects. Then I experienced horrible morning (afternoon, evening, and overnight) sickness. And I spent the rest of my pregnancy recovering. I didn't feel beautiful. I didn't "glow" or feel like I met the criteria for what a pregnant person was supposed to be. It wasn't something I wanted to celebrate (or even remember). At the time.
But then I met Rose. And, she is the best ever. And I wish I'd done more to document us growing together.
Shortly after Rose turned one, I learned I was pregnant again. I wasn't quite as sick that time around, but pregnancy and chasing a toddler just felt like a lot, and I found myself again making excuses not to document my pregnancy. During the last week of my pregnancy, I suddenly had a huge desire to get maternity photos done...I had Sonia the following day. I’m not sobbing about a lack of maternity pictures, but be wiser than I was. Whether you book a session with me or take bathroom selfies (or both!) - take the bump photos. Ten months is fast the moment it’s over.
