Where to begin, let me start by saying Emily Hall is an amazingly talented woman with a camera. She was by far the best choice I could have made for a photographer at my wedding on 10-10-10!
Her eye for what will make a great shot is pure talent. She seems to capture the pure essence of what is taking place around her. Her creativity in "creating" a good shot & her quickness for capturing the candid ones is remarkable.
Emily's manner, as well as her gift behind a camera, is what made working with her such a joy. She is so professional, showing up exactly when she says she will, being prepared with all she needs and more to make your perfect collection of photos, & at the same time so "down to earth" & a delight to work with. She takes the time to talk with you, whether that be long before the event (which was in my case. She took the time out of her busy schedule to drive to Washington to meet with me & go over what I wanted on my wedding day, weeks before the event) or during. During my wedding I can't tell you how nice it was just to be able to ask for something & have Emily go and get it done! She listens to her clients, takes the ideas or pictures they have in their heads & makes them a reality. During, & now after, my wedding I have had countless amounts of my friends & family members come to me & ask where I found our photographer, saying that she is amazing, without even seeing her work yet, simply because of her attitude/personality, & now having seen her work they are all the more amazed by her.
I have had the privilege to see Emily's work in many other aspects besides my wedding. After seeing her at work for the first time during one of my family members wedding receptions, I could tell she knew what she was doing behind the camera. I have been privileged to see Emily Hall in action at two events in the past year. She is always prepared, completely gracious and professional. Emily has an amazing eye for creating one-of-a-kind moments and capturing intimate scenes. Emily is a master at wrangling large groups of people, young and old. She is fantastic with kids and babies - willing to work with parents to catch the moment of a laugh, or patiently wait for a two-year-old's tantrum to pass. She is conscious of people's physical limitations as well, and is able to effectively work around them to still produce memorable shots.
Emily's dedication to capturing the mood of an event is unsurpassed. She is seemingly ever-present. Even with chaos around her, she instinctively knows where the great shot is going to happen, and be there to nab it with her lens. I am truly in awe of Emily's ability to be everywhere at the same time.
Beyond Emily's considerable technical skill, she is extremely personable and easy to work with. Many times, a high level of expertise means you're forced to deal with a photographer who is somewhat lacking in the personality department. Not so with Emily. She is fun, effervescent and an absolute joy to work with. She is direct when she needs to be, but also willing to let her subjects dictate their desires during the photo shoot. Her willingness to go with the flow sets everyone at ease, creating a relaxed environment that produces wonderful photographs.
Emily has tremendous post-production skills as well. She is prompt and efficient getting the finished product to her clients, and that product is consistently amazing work. Her photographs are sharp, clear and vibrant. Her composition is clean and interesting and her lighting techniques make for stunning portraits. You will love having Emily as your photographer - she is the perfect blend of technical skill, personable director and amazing artistic gifting.

I've had the privilege and the joy of working with Emily on 4 different photo shoots over the last year.
The first was with my family - our ages are from 60 to teenage girls and all the way down to a 1 year old and an 8 month old. The second photo shoot was this past spring. Four generation of women in my family. My mother, nearly 70 all the way to my granddaughter who was 18 months. Emily was flexible and fantastic. She let us be us and captured the very that we are. We LOVE our family pictures.
This past summer I worked with Emily on a 25th wedding renewal ceremony and reception. She was constantly moving and finding interesting angles and unique pairings of friends and family. She moved quietly and was never in the way. The result was a beautiful tribute to this couple's 25 years of life and love together.
Just last week Albany Civic Theater hired Emily to photograph our yearly award ceremony. Emily was patient with all the camera hogs (me being one), she was playful and professional, and capture some really wonderful moments for my theater family. She had over 100 people to please that night and boy did she! I am now the new hero of ACT for hiring Emily for our event.
Emily's creative eye sees something unique and special in what normally would escape our attention. She takes every day life and with her own twist creates something memorable.

Emily Hall was one of the two fabulously skilled photogs at our wedding. The pictures are absolutely amazing, we keep hearing compliments and all I can say is "I know they are truly beautiful". I've never felt more beautiful then I do when I look at the photos, I feel like Emily really caught who I really am, right down to the fun-loving and crazy girl that I am (even when people are looking). Emily created a family photo album/senior pictures in celebration of our son's graduation from high school, and it's wonderful! Emily did an amazing job of coaxing smiles from all of us, finding a mix of great settings, and thinking of a variety of styles of pictures. Her photography is creative and fun, and the time we spent with her was even more fun. Her cheerfulness and sense of humor would put even the shyest subject at ease.
