Aaannnd, although I didn't tag along for all of their anniversary festivities, I had a blast hanging with them before they headed out to dinner.

I LOVED that Nick and Keri wanted to do photos as part of their anniversary celebration. I (obviously) love documenting special moments with photos. Looking at these, I can totally imagine them pulling out albums on anniversaries & reliving old memories. 

For couple sessions like these, I don't do a lot of posing (yes guys, you heard me right).  :)  I give assignments instead. Nick and Keri rocked their assignments and Nick almost made me cry when he told me that he had fun during our session and that it really added meaning to their anniversary. 

Thank you Nick and Keri! You are wonderful, gorgeous people, both inside and out. This was really fun for me and I'm so glad you guys had an awesome anniversary.  You guys are a rad couple, and it shows.

Miss Ellery (currently residing in Ronell's tummy) is arriving soon and I for one am SO excited. I'm not the only one though.  :) I know how big of a deal Ellery is. :)  I don't think I've ever seen a big brother as excited to take on the role as Noah is. I cannot wait to do brother-sister photos with those two!

The Schaffners were one of my first clients ever. They've shown me some cool spots in Oregon & helped it become my home; looking back through photos from their past shoots brings back some awesome memories. Although they're clients, they've come to feel more like friends.

It was awesome getting to know them better. I had no idea when I started my photography career that one of the job perks was having so many awesome friends with the same passion. It's been AMAZING. I absolutely love nerding out with my photography girls.

As for the Retreat part of the trip...

We set and shared goals. (I now have an awesome Goal Buddy to keep me motivated. Thanks Erica!)

We learned from each other.  (I have TONS of notes. Aaaand, I even led a little workshop segment myself. An official FIRST for me!)  

We braved the hot tub in the wind and the rain.

We shared stories...and wine.

We played Apples to Apples...and took photobooth photos. 

Amy and I fed seagulls while photographers took videos, photos, and yelled "Angry Birds" at us.  :)

My friend, Bunn, took this phone pic of us (below).  Love it!  :)  Yay for fun walks on the beach with friends.

We stayed in one of the houses on the hill (in the pic below). 

I LOVE running on the beach. Actually, I love pretty much anything beach. :)  ...But, running on the beach is one of those things that truly makes my head and my heart happy. 

As with all good trips to the coast, the sun popped out just as we were leaving, to remind us to come back again SOON.  :)

After seeing Rayna & David together, I'm happy to add them to the list of Marathon Love Stories (relationships that go the distance).  If I didn't know that Rayna & David had been married for almost 25 years, I would have guessed that they were newleyweds. Seriously. ...Except once you take a closer look, their love totally has that depth and familiarity that comes only with time.

I intruded on their private couples weekend at the Five Pine Lodge to give them photo memories of this awesome milestone they're about to achieve in their marriage. 

Although they'll technically be celebrating their 25th anniversary on separate continents, I have a feeling that these two will have a more romantic anniversary than many newer couples who get to see each other every day.

That tidbit of tricky phrasing is definitely a window into the lives of military families. Just thinking about it makes my heart beat a little faster as I imagine trying to squeeze SOMUCH into a small amount of time. I'm learning that although each military family is unique & different, the common thread is that they're all pretty dang strong. 

I LOVED getting to hang out with the DeLeon Guerrero family. It was awesome getting to see how much fun you guys are when nobody's looking. I hope that these photos help you bridge the time and distance until all 4 of you are together again.  :)

It's going to be seriously beautiful. But, as much as I'm excited for my visit to Orcas, I'm even more excited to see these two take the next step in their relationship. They are SO kind and thoughtful to each other.  I don't know if I've ever seen two people juggle kindness and honesty quite as well as Josh and Jodie do. It's pretty amazing.
